Whole body red light therapy, also known as photobiomodulation therapy (PBM), is a safe and relaxing treatment that has been shown to enhance the body’s natural processes for metabolizing free radicals and minimizing the damage they cause. PROBLEM & SOLUTION
When cells age and become stressed, the mitochondria produce Nitric Oxide (NO) which outcompetes oxygen and blocks the receptor site that oxygen binds to during the respiratory process, the process of turning blood sugar into cellular energy. With a diet rich in antioxidants and rest, the body successfully manages excess Nitric Oxide. If the body is too stressed, it cannot remove Nitric Oxide at the rate it is produced. This buildup of NO causes ROS (reactive oxygen species) and is known as Oxidative Stress. LED PROXIMITY
Distance from the LED affects light absorption, but do not be misled by erroneous statements that one needs to be close enough to touch the LEDs. Do light beds need to be FDA approved or cleared?
No. The FDA approves drugs, not devices. If a product has an FDA "clearance", it means the device can verifiably cause a change in form or function within the body. Example: decreases fat or reduces pain. These are medical claims and must be proven. Bed makers are not required to get a clearance, but they cannot make a specific claim without one unless, in the case of light beds, they piggyback on similar predicate devices.
